Favorably changed the way Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) calculation on duty on goods after importation, resulting in award of $1.2 million for  a major wholesaler.

 

Produced a $5.7million improvement in gross margin and reduction in SG&A expenses between 2013 and 2014. Achieved 99% top quality and 95% on time delivery performance in 2015 for US Importer.

 

Successfully managed $560.0 million in strategic sourcing involving over 500 suppliers, international supply chains, corporate social responsibilities, trade issues and finance.

 

Expanded private and foreign direct brands to $292.0 million in first-cost shipments and $600.0 million at landed cost, meeting a targeted 70% initial markup.

 

Boosted profits by $6.0 million over two years, leading the deployment of 12 financial initiatives that captured increased EBITDA; additionally, generated $300,000 in savings using a 4.5% markdown in merchandising and advertising for a major USA retailer.

 

Led the renegotiation and restructuring of a global third party agency agreement with a major logistics provider that reduced landing costs by $15.0 million from 2015 to 2020; this lead to a gain of 3 basis points in gross profits for the company’s private label businesses.

 

Met the challenge of launching a leading luxury retailer’s flagship store in Canada, with authority over pricing strategies, operations, vendor set-ups, inland logistics and European/US imports.

 

Grew a Home wholesale business to encompass LS Retail stores in global airport locations and national retail stores.

 

Executed a variety of franchise and licensing deals that realized substantial savings in supply chain costs; key agreements included a wholesale agreement with a national fashion retailer, IP and franchise agreements with merchants, as well as leading the financial and legal restructuring of a UK major national fast fashion wholesaler.

Served on-site in Hong Kong to manage offices, manufacturing facilities and supply chain/distribution opportunities in the Far East, Sub-Continent, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

 

Positioned a major US wholesaler as one of the largest garment makers worldwide, strengthening business relationships with key licensors serving major department and off-price department stores.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY

Spearheaded several joint initiatives with our overseas partners focusing on women rights, safety and health issues.  For example, under Michael Gilson's direction, one of the largest North American retailers collaborated with their partner garment factory in Guangdong, China and the Health Enables Return, HERproject, to help improve the lives and wellbeing of female factory workers abroad.
