CHRISTIANE HUGELMANN
COLOGNE, GERMANY
HONG KONG

Over the course of her 20-year career, Christiane has become known for her transformational leadership within top apparel  enterprises, driving process improvement and bottom-line growth initiatives in challenging international arenas. Her success is owed not only to her industry expertise, which covers core areas such as strategic sourcing, product management, quality management, and supply chain management but also to her passion for excellence and a strategic business mindset.

After completing an apprenticeship with Deutsche Bank, Christiane decided to launch a new career within the apparel industry, earning an Engineer’s Degree in Clothing Technology from the FHTW in Berlin, Germany. Upon graduating she joined Bon Prix Handelsgesellschaft MBH, one of the top ten mail order providers in Germany. There she learned the fundamentals of the garment industry, gaining a solid grounding in both product development and quality control.

Christiane then joined Tchibo, one of Germany’s largest chains, where she led the Quality Division for women’s apparel.  While there she became a confident decision maker, authorizing production and shipment for orders of up to 1 million pieces.  At Tchibo she acted as an agent for change in reducing costs and enhancing both transparency and efficiency, with her team earning recognition as the best performing team in 2003.

Christiane is the Product Manager and Head of Global Sourcing and Merchandising for MGB HK.  From her offices in Hong Kong, Christiane oversees a global P&L for direct import sourcing for Women’s and Children’s wear. Her global sourcing, business development, and business-planning strategies have led to the 2nd-best turnover in 40 years, a historically low claim rate and improved shipment performance.

In addition, Christiane has played an instrumental role in driving environmental sustainability across the entire supply chain. Furthermore, her global sourcing efforts across Southeast Asia, Europe, and North Africa are guided not only by a strong commitment to delivering outstanding results to MGB’s shareholders but by a deep concern for Corporate Social Responsibility.

Christiane speaks fluent German and English.
